Bio

Dr. Jodi Pawluski is Neuroscientist, Therapist and Author. She is an international expert on the Science of Mommy Brain, the Neuroscience of Parenting, and Perinatal Mental Health.

Bio

Dr. Carolina Estevao is a postdoctoral research associate and Clinical Project Manager within the SHAPER Programme, and works across the programme in the Melodies for Mums with Postnatal Depression and the Stroke Odysseys projects. She has over 8 years of academic research experience.

This pre-conference workshop aims to equip scientists and clinicians with diverse science communication methods to share their work with non-scientific audiences effectively.

Goals:

- Provide a comprehensive understanding of science communication.
- Promote non-traditional methods like social media and podcasts.
- Enhance accessibility by engaging diverse audiences.
- Encourage public engagement.
- Advocate for inclusive and accessible language to make scientific content widely understandable.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the workshop, participants will:
- Identify their target audience and tailor communication strategies.
- Simplify complex scientific concepts into accessible information.
- Utilise multimedia (podcasts, social media, video) to enhance storytelling.

Bio

Anushka Banerjee is a molecular biologist & science communicator with a Masters degree in Molecular Medicine and prior research experience at NIMHANS. Her work focuses on making science accessible through scientific writing, public engagement, audio-visual content and educational outreach. She has won grants for outreach programs on non-animal methodologies and more recently, brain research & mental health. Anushka currently leads science communication efforts at Centre for Brain and Mind-NIMHANS, bringing neuroscience research to wider audiences.

Bio

Kadambari Patil is a science communicator and illustrator with a background in Zoology and Botany. As the visual communication lead at the Centre for Brain and Mind - NIMHANS, she ensures complex scientific information is accessible and engaging across platforms. Kadambari has secured grants for outreach, curated science-art exhibitions, and coordinated neuroscience public engagement programs fostering community involvement
