Bio

Dr. Sandip Deshpande is a psychiatrist and sexual and relationship therapist. He is currently attached to a few hospitals at Bangalore, India in addition to independent/private practice. He has over 10 years experience in the specialty. He did his post-graduation in Psychiatry (MD) with a Gold medal in 2003. Following a one year research post at NIMHANS, Bangalore, he worked in the United Kingdom for over eight years. He has led the Self-Harm and Suicide prevention Team and the psycho-sexual medicine service in the capacity of a Consultant in Leeds, UK

Bio

Dr. Vyjayanthi Venkataramu is Assistant Professor in Department of Psychiatry, Ramaiah Medical College. She has MD(Psychiatry) from NIMHANS, Bangalore and a Fellow in Psychosexual Medicine from JSSAHER. Her areas of interest include sexual Medicine – with a special focus on Female Sexual Dysfunctions, psycho oncology and cultural psychiatry.

Objectives:

Mental Health Professionals are often asked about sexual health issues by patients. Cross referrals come from other clinicians especially for psycho-sexual issues. Also, the treatments that are used by psychiatrists can induce sexual dysfunctions. In all these scenarios, lack of adequate training becomes a stumbling block for health care professionals. This workshop aims to fill these gaps and equip the participants in gaining practical knowledge and learn its application in sexual medicine cases.

Eligibility

  1. Should be a qualified Mental Health Professional (MHP)

  2. Clinicians with Minimum 2 years of experience in their field (Psychiatry, Clinical psychology and psychiatric social work)

  3. Students and Academics: Enrolled in PhD (social sciences related to mental health) or MD in psychiatry.

  4. Teaching Faculty and Postdoctoral Fellows: Working in mental health or related fields.
