Bio

Catherine is a clinical psychologist, registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and member of the Australian Psychological Society, The Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists, and a clinical member and supervisor with the Australian Association of Family Therapy. Catherine has extensive public and private sector practice experience as teacher and clinician with particular expertise as a family therapist.

Bio

Consultant psychiatrist, family therapist and lead for perinatal services and The Green Oak Initiative. She is trained in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Systemic Family Therapy, Mentalisation Based Treatment and has a Fellowship in Perinatal Psychiatry & Women's Mental Health. She is also the director and co-founder of The PARC, a mental health training organisation.

Eligibility:

Should be a qualified Mental Health Professional (MHP)
Interest/working in family therapy or adolescents with below qualifications
Clinicians with Minimum 2 years of experience in their field (Psychiatry, Clinical psychology and psychiatric social work)
Students and Academics: Enrolled in PhD (social sciences related to mental health) or MD in psychiatry.
Teaching Faculty and Postdoctoral Fellows: Working in mental health or related fields.

Suitable for psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, family therapists and any mental health professionals working with adolescents or young adults. At least 1-2 years of exposure to clinical work is ideal but not essential. Basic knowledge of the spectrum of eating disorders is desirable for maximum benefit from the workshop. 

Objectives:

To provide clinicians working with adolescent girls, an overview of eating disorders that increasingly present in the 12-to-19-year age group. 
To facilitate an understanding of systemic family therapy as the treatment of choice.
Address cultural adaptations of a model developed and applied primarily in Western countries. 
Include practical demonstration of family therapy skills and intervention when working with whole families whose daughters present with this symptom.
