Dr. Nirmaljit Dhami

Bio
Dr. Nirmaljit Dhami is the Medical Director of the Inpatient Perinatal Psychiatry Unit at the Scrivner Center for Mental Health & Addiction Services, El Camino Health. Previously, she led the Maternal Outreach Mood Services (MOMS) Program (2008-2020) and is widely recognized for her pioneering work in perinatal mental health. A Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Dr. Dhami has been featured on NPR and KQED and has held several prominent roles, including past Chair of the Psychiatry Department at El Camino Health, President of Bay Area Maternal Mental Health Inc., and board member of multiple maternal mental health organizations. Trained at GMC Amritsar, India, with a psychiatry residency at UCSD, Dr. Dhami is dedicated to addressing maternal mental health, particularly in perinatal psychotic disorders and suicide prevention. Recently, she completed her first triathlon and Alcatraz swim, and she enjoys swimming, hiking, and time with her family. Dr. Dhami is also committed to community engagement, advocating for legal reforms to support mothers, and collaborating with high school students to create educational films on perinatal mental health.
Dr Latha K has a specialisation in Community Medicine, her expertise spans in the area ofMental Health Promotion, Women’s Mental Health, Media & Mental Health. She has been awarded an extramural research grant from ICMR In 2022 for the research project titled “Study on Awareness and Management-Based Health Action using Video Intervention (SAMBHAV) for Postpartum Depression.”

1. To understand the process involved and challenges faced in creating health education videos/films to enhance perinatal mental health literacy.
2. To engage youth in understanding and building perinatal psychiatry films
3. To learn the steps involved in evaluation of effectiveness of videos/films in promotion of maternal mental health.

Dr G. Suman, MD is a Professor of Community Medicine and working in M S Ramaiah Medical College. Her area of interest is geriatrics, health care waste management, non-communicable diseases and medical education.

Ms. Naina Sodhi
MFT, SEP Perinatal Programs Coordinator, El Camino Health
Bio
NAINA SODHI, MFT, SEP Naina Sodhi is a Marriage and Family Therapist by licensure in the state of California. She is also a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. She has been practicing psychotherapy since 2007. Historically, she has worked in domestic violence centers, nonprofits supporting children in the foster system, school districts, primary care clinics, hospitals and private practice. She currently works at El Camino Health. In the past she has helped develop the PHP, IOP and inpatient programs. Presently, she is the Perinatal Programs Coordinator wherein she educates the community about maternal mental health.
